The Boritar is unique ship within the cardassian fleet.
When the Klingons attacked the Cardassian Union 30 years ago the personal ship of Chancellor Gowron, the IKS BORTAS, was destroyed during the battle of Cardassia-Prime.
The dead hull was recovered by the Cardassians who started to repair the ship.
For the next ten years the hull was lying in a minor shipyard and the progress was very slow.
The Cardassians replaced many destroyed Klingon installations and replaced them with technology of the Galor-III-class.
15 years after the end of the Dominion War the ship was finished.
The result was an battleship with enormeous firepower: Instead of a single wave disruptor the Boritar was equipped with 6 wave disruptors (3 forward - 3 aft) and many defensive disruptor cannons which were installed throughout the whole hull.
The greatest disadvantage was the warp speed: The Boritar is only able to fly with a maximum speed of Warp 3 - so it was useless for offensive operations.
The ship is actually placed at Cardassia Prime where it orbits the planet as a huge defensive weapon-platform.
